Blackrock Cottage
Basic Information
Blackrock Cottage
This cottage, built in the 1830s here on the rugged west coast of Ireland, witnessed the harsh realities of the Great Famine. Originally a dwelling for a local family, its thick stone walls and thatched roof stood resilient against the Atlantic winds. With careful attention to detail, the original stonework was preserved, and the interior transformed into a cozy yet modern restaurant, blending old-world charm with contemporary style.
Now renowned for its locally sourced seafood and traditional Irish dishes, has earned several awards, including ‘Best Restaurant in Galway 2024’. Visitors come not only for the food but to experience a piece of Irish history, dining by the sea in a place where a long and storied history is woven into its very walls.
